$55k kisses

eonline reports:

Robert Pattinson gives good lip service.

Kisses from the man himself were just auctioned off for oodles of money at the Cannes Film Festival.

R.Patzz was a guest at tonight's über-chic amfAR benefit, sitting at a table with Italian designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana (yes, Rob was in a D&G tux) and French Vogue Editor-in-Chief Carine Roitfeld.

Movie mogul Harvey Weinstein joked from the stage that his daughters changed their last name to Pattison after they saw Twilight. "Harvey then suggested auctioning off an opportunity for someone's daughter to meet and get a kiss on the cheek from Pattinson," a fellow partygoer says. "There were two bidders who paid
20,000 euros each for their daughters to have that kiss."

In U.S. cash, that's about $55,000!

"Harvey put him on the spot, in a playful way," my source says. "And Rob agreed to it in his usual brooding, modest way."

P.S.: The winning bidders were not the parents of Kristen Stewart or Nikki Reed.

Also at the annual AIDS benefit were former prez Bill Clinton, Sharon Stone, Josh Hartnett, Elizabeth Hurley and professional partyers Paris Hilton and Doug Reinhardt.

i LOVE these photos of rob (pronounced rah-bear in french) at the cannes photocall on zimbio. also check out the full interview with the risky biz (hollywood reporter) on robert pattinson umlimited.
THR: What’s the schedule for “New Moon”?

Pattinson: We’ve got four days left on the shoot for this. I’m going to Italy for the remaining days of the shoot.

THR: And then?

Pattinson: Then I’m going straight into filming (the relationship drama) "Remember Me,” then have just three days off before going back to finishing up the third instalment in the “Twilight” series, “Eclipse.” After that I am doing a film “Unbound Captives.” I can’t say much about that but I know the script needs me to learn Comanche! Maybe it’ll be like in “Dances With Wolves!” My part is entirely in Comanche, ha ha.
...

THR: What’s the script about?

Pattinson: I read somewhere it was being described as the modern day “Love Story.” It isn’t anything like “Love Story.” It (“Remember Me”) is really hard to describe. It about a 23-year-old guy and knowing someone for six weeks. You don’t just fall in love and say, I’m in love, after six weeks. It’s really a relationship story. It’s very natural and the characters are incredibly real and well scripted. It’s one of the few scripts I’ve read where you finish and realize you didn’t really want it to end. I have no qualms in saying that (writer) Jenny (Lumet) is a genius.

leak leak

here it is ladies! based on NMM:

The Washington Times accidentally uploaded the official New Moon poster story early, prematurely revealing the first official poster for New Moon that was scheduled to be unveiled tomorrow morning in the print edition and at 7am EST
online.

The page has since been taken down, but is still freely available in the Google cache. However, the full size version isn’t available as far as I can tell–luckily Spunk-Ransom nabbed it while the story was still up.

what do you think?!?!?!

Nikki Reed Tells Kristen Stewart: "I Guess I Should Look for a New Job"

Los Angeles (E! Online) – Twilight's Nikki Reed may be back in L.A., but she's missing her New Moon castmates, who are still filming in Canada.

"It's really nice to work with your friends," she said at T-Mobile's Sidekick LX launch party last night. "When I left and I was done, I said to Kristen [Stewart], 'I guess I should go back to L.A. and look for a new job and have a life.' "

One recent event she missed out on? Rob Pattinson's birthday dinner party Wednesday night, where he was joined by his parents and Kristen.

Although she wasn't there in person, she still made a point to reach out to the birthday boy...

"I called him yesterday and wished him a happy birthday!" she tells E! News.

So how about all those Twilight hookup rumors? (Rob's been linked to both Nikki and Kristen; just check out Awful Truth to find out all the details.)

"I'm not gonna go there!" Nikki dodged. Interesting; she's not denying anything, and Awful Truth knows there's certainly more to this story . We'll all stay Twilight tuned...

fierce

robsessed gives us more about rob's role in unbound captives:

The film is based on a screenplay by Madeline Stowe. She was originally slated to star in the project. Variety described the film:

She [Stowe] would have played a woman (now to be played by Weisz) whose husband is killed and her two children kidnapped by a Comanche war party in 1859. She is rescued by a frontiersman, to be played by Jackman. Pattinson will play the son.

Please keep in mind that we do not have official confirmation from anyone on Rob’s team that he has signed officially for the project. Variety does tend to be accurate, however, and Hugh Jackman was asked about Rob playing the role and seemed to confirm it as well. Once again, this article is based on information from the original script. Details, names, and plot points can change substantially during the pre-production and filming process. And since we do not wish to spoil the movie, we’re keeping this to some pretty basic information at this time, and limiting the information to Rob’s character only. Well, with the disclaimers out of the way, let’s take a short look at Robert Pattinson’s role in “The Unbound Captives”.

Character
Name: PHINEAS
*The character is shown first at age 10, then again at approximately 17
*As indicated in information published on the internet, Phineas was kidnapped as a child and assimilated in a Comanche tribe.
*Phineas (all descriptions here are of the character at age 17) is described as having long hair and pierced ears, presumably in the 19th-century Comanche style.
*Virtually all of his lines are in Comanche.
*The character’s Comanche name is Tsomo, which means “bead”.
*Yes, he rides a horse…bareback. He rides quite a bit, actually.
*Although the character does have a few flirtatious scenes, this is not a romantic-type role.
* The older Phineas is in the latter parts of the script, perhaps the last third. It is definitely a supporting role.
* Our source describes the character like this: “Phineas is pretty fierce. He’s been raised as a warrior. He can be silent and standoffish, but he can throw a bit of a fit, too.”

That’s a pretty basic character breakdown. Our source felt that the role was definitely a different one for Rob and would be physical, challenging and complex.

hot or not? thoughts on rob switching sides and becoming an indian?
EDIT: saw on robert pattinson unlimited that filming will be filmed in new mexico and new zealand with a $90 million budget! ashok amritraj will be the producer and the movie will be released at the end of 2010.

inspiration

twilight examiner, amanda bell, posted an interview with the author of wide awake. read the full article here.

what really struck me was one of the comments:
revrag says:

This interview was great. AG has a way with words. Because I have entirely too much time on my hands I also read through the comments. Most are not surprising or far off the mark when speaking praise for AG and that WA is the best fanfic. I did come across one specific comment that struck a nerve with me. While I respect the opinion of most anyone, I have to completely disagree with IsabellaCullen's comment, "The author aims at realism, but if half of the many, over the top, pyschological situations were real, the characters would be instituitionalized." My reply (this may take awhile and bring up a can of worms...see unicorn thread if you don't believe me):
I've lived through a home invasion. I have a seriously mentally ill mother. I grew up in foster homes and group homes. When I was little, on more than one occasion, my own mother tried to kill me. No joke. As a teenager, one of my trusted guardians sexually molested me. I've lived through the death of my beloved sister. I've survived the suicide of my brother. I'm currently living through an henious situation where my 15-year-old neighbor made a horrific choice and as a result I had to stomach watching my 2-year-old daughter endure a rape exam. Not fun stuff. Unfortunately, I could go on, but that's enough "over the top" situations.
My point is, I have never been instituitionalized, ever. While these physchological situations definitely warrant help and nuturing, they can be overcome without resulting in "forced" help. I live a normal, happy life. I have a wonderful husband and beautiful children who deserve all of me. They have it, all the time, not because I was forced into therapy (which I did have after my sister's death) but because of the choices I make daily. I have chosen not to allow the choices of others, or the actions of others to entirely and ultimately influence who I am or who I want to become.
So, in short, these characters could be real and functioning. A blanket statement noting that all people with these sorts of problems should be instituitionalized is ignorant and poorly thought out at best.
Everyone has problems, it's called life. There's something going on in each of our lives that someone else may deem impossible or messed up. I've heard once that if a group of people were given the option of placing all their troubles and heartache on a table in front of them (as if in a neat little pile) and step back and look objectively at all the troubles that accumulated on said table, after being told to pick which pile they wanted to take and endure, each person would choose their own pile. Why? Because it's familiar? Perhaps. Because seeing what others have to endure is just as messed up, if not more so than their own crap? Maybe.
There's a lot "over the top, pyschological situations" people are dealing with all around us, all the time. It not new, or even surprising. However, an instituition is not practical in a lot of these situations, if it were there would be one on every corner in every neighborhood. We would all be committed. Period.

that was beautiful...now if only everyone we knew would travel through life with this mentality...

still hot...

as expected, a variety of sites covered rob's bday yesterday! here's what celebuzz had to say:
Our favorite Vampire turned 23 yesterday, and now we've got all the pictures from his dinner celebration!

After 12 long hours on the New Moon set, Robert Pattinson headed back to his hotel at 6 p.m. Around 9 p.m., the birthday boy headed out to his favorite Vancouver drinking and dining spot, The Global Grill And Satay.

Entering through the back door with good buddy Sam Bradley, the boys made their way to their table, where they were joined shortly after by Kristen Stewart, Ashley Greene, Jamie Bower, Rob's parents, and other cast mates and friends.

The party noshed on platters of meat, including roast chicken, lamb ribs, and skewered meats, and their drinks of choice. Rob was gracious to all fans who approached him, and called it a night with his friends around 1 a.m.

It looks like Rob had a blast. If anyone deserves it, it's him!

blush

This is Jackson's answer. The fan asked "If you were on a deserted island and could take any cast member, who would you take and why?" He responds at the beginning which I cut off a bit saying "I will tell you the truth if you promise not to ask why." Then he pauses and says all seductively... "Ashley." The main point is that he blushes like crazy!

Taking the plunge.

My exposure to the Twilight Saga thus far is probably not that dissimilar from other people whose significant others have become engrossed in the series. First, I saw the movie. I can't say I was forced to watch it; being a fan of vampire movies in general, I had resisted prior to that because of the teen-mania that seemed to surround the movie. After finally seeing it, I was treated to summaries of the last three books by Yeacob who was making her way through them at the time. This helped answer some of the questions the movie left me with and piqued my curiosity just enough that I've been flirting with the idea of reading the books for a couple months.

Last week, I finally caved. I did what I could never have imagined doing the first time I saw t-shirts with Edward on them at the local Hot Topic: I went out and purchased the first book of the Twilight series. Today I'm starting it.

As Empire celebrates our 20th birthday, we look back at the movie stars who have not only started their careers since our debut, but who weren't even born when our first issue hit the shelves. It's either depressing or inspring, we're not sure which...

Kristen Stewart

You know her from: Panic Room, Into The Wild, Twilight.

Why's she good? She's a good indie actress, having made her name in a succession of incredibly hip films from Panic Room to Undertow to the upcoming Adventureland, via occasional bigger outings in Zathura, Jumper and of course Twilight.

Will she have an adult career? Twilight will keep her busy for a few years to come, and the fact that she's lined up a turn as Joan Jett next suggests that she's anxious to keep mixing it up. Assuming she doesn't get bored with the business and give up, we expect to see her around for years to come.

f lainey

"Local tabloid gossip queen, Lainey, twittered the exact location for where the party was happening. Even making multiple posts to make sure the message was seen as much as possible. Her reasons are not entirely known, but the group down there all had their own overwhelming hunches, which point to the fact she didnt have anyone there to shoot for her (ironic she posted this shortly after her pap went home for the night) & she wanted to create a scene where dozens of people were there to take exclusivity away from any shots that did come out of there. It was a low, underhanded & classless move, which really hurts the cast & crew more than the photogs that were around.

In a move of defensive maneuvering not generally seen by a small group of fans (which was now up to about 12-15 after the twitter posts) we grouped together & knowingly posted false departures of the cast. None of us liked doing it, but it was far far better than the alternative, which was 40+ people showing up. In just 5-10 minutes of her original post, 2 fans had shown up & in 30 mins 5-6 had. Luckily, it never got past that point & for that, I thank those down on the scene who banded together with myself to post eroneous reports to immobilize Laineys plan to cause chaos & problems. Luckily it worked. Sorry to those who were misguided by it, nothing personal against YOU, it is more that a sizable group causes problems & it was teetering on that edge already within a short timespan of the twitter posts."

saw this article over at spout blog:

10 Surprisingly Good Portrayals of Iconic Figures

Many critics will no doubt rip apart Robert Pattinson’s performance as Salvador Dali in Little Ashes this weekend, but the truth is that it’s a surprisingly good portrayal of the artist. That is to say that given our expectations, combined with Pattinson’s own celebrity, added to the fact that anyone would look ridiculous sporting Dali’s signature mustache (even Dali), the Twilight actor does as well in the role as is possible. Is the performance Oscar-worthy? Certainly not, but it is deserving of some level of praise.

Pattinson’s Dali follows a long tradition of surprisingly good portrayals of iconic figures. Movie stars are constantly cast as famous persons they barely resemble, and often it’s difficult to shake off our identification with the player in order to accept him/her as the depicted individual. Some of these performances are better than others, and most have been honored by the Academy, but each actor and actress listed below either initially seemed like a wrong choice for the respective part or he/she was at least understood to be taking on a difficult task in attempting to portray such a familiar personality.

see the list of 10 here.

also, don't forget to wear your dali moustache when we go watch on tuesday like these folks shown on mtv movies blog:

Wolf Pack on the streets

Hello wolf pack! and that's all I have to say about that.

oh herro...Taylor makes the asian squat look damn sexy!

http://twilightbuzz.files.wordpress.com/2009/03/taylor-lautner.jpg

and then some ridiculousness, thanks to newmoonmovie.org:

200905081855.jpg Alex Meraz, who plays the badboy wolf Paul in New Moon, reveals that a fan took his role a bit too seriously, giving him a hard time for the character he is playing–

“Someone started yelling at me because they didn’t like my character,” Meraz told us last night at a Carrera Vintage Sunglasses party at the Chateau Marmont hotel.

“I play a bad boy, so she got mad at me,” he added. “She said, ‘I hate you, Paul!’ That was the craziest thing for me—being confused for a character.”

Meraz’s response to the hater?…

“I yelled back at her, ‘I love you, too!’” he said.

He also revealed that he doesn’t think he can compare to Robert Pattinson in the sex symbol category (I beg to differ!)–

“I’m happy to have just a smidgen of what he’s got…I’m not worried about being a sex symbol.”

Alex Meraz and Taylor Lautner: Martial Arts During Free Time

May 8, 2009

Alex Meraz new Moon Paul fighting dancing

Alex Meraz, a fellow wolf pack member in New Moon with Taylor Lautner, reveals that the two put their background in martial arts to good use–in their free time, the duo perform martial arts together!

Meraz, who plays a volatile member of the wolf pack named Paul, tells us he and fellow furry friend Taylor Lautner often pass the time between shooting doing martial arts, including karate and backflips.

“The wolf pack is like brothers,” squealed Meraz, eagerly.

The crew is currently shooting in Vancouver, and Meraz says it is going “great.” He adds that the sequel, in his humble estimation, will definitely be superior to the original.

“It gets bigger, better and more exciting,” gushed Meraz.

five stages of grief

saw this over at twilight widower:

After exhaustive study of the habits of Twilight Widowers, I came across a blog that identified the Five stages of Twilight-Widower-Grief (Suspicion, Denial, Anger, More Anger, Complacency).

I myself have gone through these stages.

Suspicion ("Honey? Are you watching Twilight again?" and "Did you just call me ‘Edward’?")
Denial ("I'm sure it's just a phase. I don't mind ironing her work clothes.")
Anger ("No, I am not making mushroom ravioli again!")
More Anger ("No, we are not buying tickets for the Twilight cruise!")
Complacency ("Here, honey, I printed up Midnight Sun and bound it for you. Now you won't get eyestrain.")

Now that I have resigned myself to the role of complacent Twilight Widower, I have discovered that despite the seemingly endless neglect us Twi-Widowers often endure, there are some surefire ways to get the wife to pay attention to you (albeit for a few sweet, brief minutes until the latest New Moon news is posted).

He’s one of the most adored leading men in Hollywood, but apparently Robert Pattinson just can’t get enough female attention.

While spending time at Brandi’s Exotic Nightclub, Rob took a liking to a curvy adult entertainer named Kendra who gave him a private lap dance on his first visit.

An inside source told press, “She’s very pretty and very sexy. She reminds me of Bo Derek in 10.” Way to go, Rob!

a bit disappointed

so i saw this over at twilightersanonymous and got really excited:
Ta forum member Katie(alovethatsnotsupposedtobe) shares her love for Bella’s lullaby by sharing different versions of the song:

Different instruments playing Bella’s lullaby.
We have all come to love Carter Burwell’s lullaby, even though a lot of us had are own version of the song in are head. But once Carters version was released as the movies version, Youtube started to get some very talented musicians trying out the lullaby on there instrument of choice. I have spent the past couple of days going through all of the videos finding the best ones. All I have to say is wow, everyone is very talented and I wish that I could do what they do (even though I spent 3 years in band I could never be as good as them). I pretty sure the sheet music for the piano has now been released but these guys have taught themselves how to play Bella’s lullaby on there own, some parts of the song can get a little ruff, but it still sounds extremely well! I think my favorite instrument playing it, would have to be the guitar, it’s a really good version.
unfortunately the versions were...imo a bit of a let down...you can check them all out (guitar, flute, piccolo, base clarinet, violin) in the link above if you want, but here's the best one:
